UFC 127 Official Results: Penn and Fitch fought to a majority draw

BJ Penn and Jon Fitch fought to a majority draw on the main event fight in welterweight division at UFC 127.
First two rounds were close as BJ Penn was able to take down Jon Fitch. At round 3, Fitch completely dominated Penn by keeping himself at the top and constantly punching and pounding Penn underneath.
As this fight ended via majority draw with results handed by the judges (29-28 Fitch, 28-28, 28-28)

The co-main event fight in Middleweight division, Michael Bisping beaten Jorge Rivera and won via TKO (strikes) at 1:54 of round 2. At round 1, Bisping got deducted 1 point by giving Rivera an illegal knee strike at the forehead. The official let the fight to continue and still the round was dominated by Bisping.
Bisping's relentless strikes at round 2 completely dominated over Rivera and let him won the fight via TKO.

Kyle Noke defeated Chris Camozzi via submission (rear naked choke) at 1:35 of round 1.

Welterweight Fight:

Brian Ebersole defeated Chris Lytle via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28)

Zhang Tie Quan defeated Jason Reinhardt via submission (guillotine choke) at 0:48 of round 1.

Lightweight Fight:

Dennis Siver defeated George Sotiropoulos via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-28, 30-27)

Lesnar, and dos Santos to coach at TUF 13

The reality television show produced by the UFC - The Ultimate Fighter will have its thirteenth season debuts on March 30, 2011 via Spike TV.

The fighters that will be featured as casts in the show must be at least 21 years old and have at least three professional MMA fights. Open tryout for TUF 13 was held by UFC and Spike TV on November 4, 2010 at Las Vegas, Nevada and the castings were mostly from welterweight and middleweight classes. However, all fighters will fight in welterweight class.

The format of this contest will be a 14-man, 16 slot tournament with quarterfinal wildcard picks.

The much awaited part of this show is the clash between the featured coaches of this season -  former UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar and Heavyweight top contender Junior dos Santos. The two will coach the upcoming welterweight fighters in pursuit of a contract in UFC.

Brock Lesnar (5-2) is a former UFC Heavyweight Champion and 3 time WWE Champion has become the UFC top pay-per-view draw and his huge followings should help to convert his presence into high ratings.

Junior dos Santos (12-1) is the top contender for the heavyweight division. His growing popularity should translate to more viewers to follow the much awaited season 13.


After the season finale, the two is scheduled to have a fight on June 11, 2011 at UFC 131. The winner of this fight will be given an immediate title shot for the UFC Heavyweight Championship. The champ Cain Velasquez recent shoulder surgery opened the door for the fight to materialize between this two top heavyweight contender.


The season 13 finale will also feature fight between Clay Guida and Anthony Pettis.

Strikeforce: Columbus - Feijao vs. Henderson

It is an upcoming mixed martial arts event by Strikeforce which will set to stage at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio, US on March 5, 2011.

This event will be the first time to be hosted in Ohio and will feature on main event the Light Heavyweight Championship fight between Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante and Dan Henderson.

A fight between Marloes Coenen and Miesha Tate for the Women's Welterweight Championship is also expected on main card.

Other fights under the main card are the following:

Fedor Emelianenko's Right Eye After Beaten by Antonio Silva

After beaten by the powerful strikes of 'Big Foot' Silva,  Fedor's right eye got swollen shut and the doctor advised to stop the fight making Silva won via TKO. 

In his post fight interview, Fedor mentioned about his possible retirement.

"Yes, maybe it's the last time. Thanks god for everything. I spent a great, beautiful, long, sport life. Maybe it's God's will." - Fedor Emelianenko (source: Strikeforce)

Fedor Emelianenko, who was the crowd favorite on the first quarter-final match of World Grand Prix Heavyweight tourney by Strikeforce, suffered another legitimate loss via TKO against Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva.

Jon Jones is set for a title shot at UFC 128

It was officially announced that Jon “Bones” Jones (12-1) will get a shot for a title fight at UFC 128.

He proved himself to be the top contender for the Light Heavyweight Championship after giving Ryan Bader his first professional loss via submission (modified guillotine choke). His domination in UFC 126: Silva vs. Belfort was awarded as the “Submission of the Night”.

In his post fight interview, Jones was told that the UFC wanted him to be the replacement of Rashad Evans (who is currently had knee injury) in the fight for the Light Heavyweight Championship against the Champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. Jones accepted and the fight is scheduled on March 19, 2011.

UFC 128: Shogun vs. Jones will take place in Newark, New Jersey.

The champion knocked out the challenger Vitor "The Phenom" Belfort via front head kick during 3:25 of round 1 to retain his title, the UFC Middleweight Championship.
The stoppage was awarded as knockout of the night and marked the thirteenth straight win (record for longest winning streak) of Silva in his entire UFC career. He also extends his record for most consecutive title defense with total of 8.

Meanwhile, the challenger Belfort (19-9) faced his first defeat via knockout.

This fight features on main event the UFC World Middleweight Championship bout between two Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu blackelt artists - the champion Anderson "The Spider" Silva and Vitor "The Phenom" Belfort.

This event will also feature two light heavyweight bouts. Forrest Griffin will face former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin, Jon Jones will face undefeated The Ultimate Fighter season 8 winner Ryan Bader.

According to UFC.com, this event is officially sold-out.
